Grantham Journal Children’s Fund charity can now attend their annual trip, thanks to Star Trust’s generous donation of £3,000.

This year’s trip will be to West Midlands Safari Park with all eligible families and siblings able to join them.

The charity gives financial support to families with disabled children, living within the Grantham region and surrounding areas. The support can be for medical equipment, travel for medical appointments and home adaptations.

Charity chairman Roy Wright, who has been involved since it was established more than 30 years ago, said: “Receiving a donation for the Children’s Fund however large or small is marvellous, it allows us to continue giving help where it is needed. This wonderful donation will also give us the chance to consider many more applications.”

Every year the charity puts on a trip or an event which is free of charge to all eligible families and are entirely organised with the needs of their disabled children in mind. Previous trips have included Disneyland Paris, Lapland and Legoland.

The charity fund raise before each event and rely on the support of local volunteers however they often have to use the money from the donations they receive to meet the full cost.

Lisa Cawdron, board member from the Star Trust added: “I think it’s amazing what this charity is doing, it’s giving these children as well as their families, a trip of a life time and I am proud that the Star Trust can support that”.

The trip aims to be a free and fun environment, where families with disabled children can spend some quality time together without financial concerns. It is also an opportunity for families to share support and encouragement with other families in similar situations.

Star Trust has donated over £500,000 to a variety of East Midlands based charities, providing them with the necessary funds they need to continue to support their service users. To find out more about Star Trust https://www.star-trust.org.uk/.
